❌ IZAAK ELLIS – SHROPSHIRE ❌
Convicted of intentional strangulation – subject to long-term restraining order
A Shropshire man has been sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court for an offence of intentional strangulation, following a hearing on 19 December 2025.
Izaak Ellis pleaded guilty to the charge and received a Community Order, which includes:
• Participation in an accredited Building Choices programme
• 150 hours of unpaid work to be completed within 12 months
• 12-month rehabilitation period under Probation Service supervision
The court also imposed a restraining order, prohibiting Ellis from contacting or approaching a named individual by any means, including social media, and from attending any address where that individual is residing or staying.
The order is in place until further notice.
📌 Background & Reported Concerns
Separate from the criminal conviction, several individuals who previously knew Ellis have described a pattern of controlling and physically aggressive behaviour during past relationships.
Accounts provided to safeguarding professionals describe:
• Physical assaults, including punching, kicking, biting and restraint
• Incidents of strangulation, one of which resulted in the conviction
• Restricting communication or movement
• Attempts to control day-to-day behaviour
Those who have raised concerns say Ellis’ behaviour allegedly continued over a prolonged period and affected more than one partner. These reports remain allegations but have been referenced during safeguarding enquiries.
Ellis initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea before sentencing.
📌 Clare’s Law – Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme
Members of the public who have concerns about a current or former partner can request information from police under the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (Clare’s Law).
This allows police to disclose whether someone has a history of violent or abusive behaviour when it is necessary to protect a potential victim.
Clare’s Law is designed to give people the ability to make informed decisions about their safety and relationships.
