Worthing Man Thomas Taylor Jailed for 4½ Years After Domestic Abuse Convictions
A man from Worthing has been sentenced to prison following a series of serious domestic abuse offences, including intentional strangulation, witness intimidation, and threats involving intimate images.
Thomas Taylor, of Worthing, was jailed after being convicted of intentionally strangling his partner during a violent incident. The court also heard that Taylor intimidated a witness and threatened to disclose a private photograph or film taken in an intimate setting.
A police spokesperson said Taylor was sentenced for all three offences, with the court recognising the serious risk posed to the victim. He was handed a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence and will be subject to an additional three years on licence following his release due to being assessed as dangerous.
Speaking after the case, the victim described the long-term impact of the abuse, saying she now lives in a constant state of alert. She explained that the psychological effects of the violence have continued even after the relationship ended, making it difficult to feel safe in everyday situations.
The court was told that intentional strangulation is regarded as one of the most dangerous forms of domestic abuse, with a high risk of serious injury or death. Police said the sentence reflected the gravity of the offences and demonstrated that crimes involving coercion, violence, and threats will be treated with the utmost seriousness.
The victim said she chose to speak out in the hope that sharing her experience would encourage others who are experiencing abuse to seek support. While the prison sentence brought a measure of justice, she said recovery from abuse is ongoing and often takes time.
Police and support organisations continue to urge anyone affected by domestic abuse to report incidents and access specialist services, stressing that help is available and confidential.
