Northampton Man Jailed After Domestic Violence Conviction – Clare’s Law Applies

Connor Gilbert, of Raunds, Northamptonshire, has been identified as a repeat domestic violence offender, most recently convicted for a violent assault involving intentional strangulation, actual bodily harm, and criminal damage under £5,000.

The incident occurred following a night of drinking at a local pub. Upon returning to his partner’s home intoxicated, Gilbert became angry and verbally abusive, reportedly making threats to sleep with multiple women in an attempt to provoke a reaction. When his now ex-partner did not respond, he launched a sustained and violent attack, punching, slapping, and strangling her, while shouting threats such as “I’m going to kill you,” and cruel remarks including “Your own family and friends don’t care,” and “You’re used and abused.”

Gilbert was arrested and charged, later pleading guilty at Northampton Magistrates’ Court to all three offences. The case was referred to Northampton Crown Court for sentencing, where he was remanded in custody and ultimately served a prison sentence of seven months.

Court documents and victim support correspondence confirm that Gilbert has a history of domestic violence offences. He is known to manipulate situations, disguise his true character, and fabricate information to avoid accountability.

Connor Gilbert is also recorded under Clare’s Law (Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme). This means police hold official records of his violent and abusive behaviour, which can be disclosed upon request to safeguard potential partners or individuals at risk.

Anyone with concerns about their safety, or who suspects they may be at risk, is advised to submit a Clare’s Law application through their local police force for further information.
