❌JOHN FALLIS – NORFOLK❌
CONVICTED | John Fallis, 39, from Grimston near King’s Lynn, Norfolk – set his ferret on a neighbour’s pet rabbit causing horrific injuries.
Fallis, a ferret breeder, was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to a rabbit called Honey in the garden of her owner’s home on June 21, 2023.
Fallis dropped the ferret in his neighbour Amanda Fletcher’s garden knowing it would risk harm to her rabbit. The ferret then attacked Honey, blinding her in one eye and causing other wounds.
Miss Fletcher said she returned home on the afternoon of the attack and saw Honey in her run with a white ferret on top of her.
Her partner caught the ferret in a cat carrier, while she took Honey indoors.
“I realised she’d got wounds all over her head,” Miss Fletcher said. “I wrapped her in a towel, grabbed some tissues and tried to stop the bleeding. I thought she was going to die.”
Honey needed to have an eye removed and wounds treated by a vet.
Another of Miss Fletcher’s rabbits, Daisy, had been killed in a ferret attack in 2022.
Fallis had been given an advisory notice by the RSPCA afterwards, telling him to to keep his ferrets safely and ensure they did not harm other animals. He refused to speak to the animal protection charity.
A CCTV camera at Miss Fletcher’s property had captured Fallis dropping the ferret into her garden.
Sentencing | fined £461 and ordered to pay a court charge of £184 and a £1,500 contribution towards costs. No ban on keeping animals was imposed by the court.
