❌STACEY SANDHAM – BOLTON❌
CONVICTED | Stacey Sandham, 34, from Farnworth, Bolton BL4 – kept six starved and neglected huskies in “completely unsuitable conditions.”
RSPCA Animal Protection Officer (APO) Jessica Pierce went to Sandham’s home on January 6 , 2024, after the charity was contacted with concerns about several huskies.
Ahead of her first visit APO Pierce had been sent footage of the dogs by a member of the public. An RSPCA vet viewed the footage and had serious concerns for the dogs’ welfare.
In a statement, APO Pierce said: “Stacey Sandham allowed me inside and showed me into the kitchen.
“There was a dog crate as I first walked in with a fluffy young dog in with some plain spaghetti on the base of the crate. There was no water inside the crate or any soft bedding.
“There was an adult husky dog loose in the kitchen which immediately appeared underweight, I could still see the outline of the ribs/hips and spine even through this coat.”
She added: “There was mud and dirt all over the floor with dirty paw prints on the floor/walls and doors.
“There was a plastic bowl on top of the dog crate with watery spaghetti in it and next to this a large bag of dry biscuits with a small amount of biscuits left in the bag.
“I asked how many dogs she had and she stated she had six dogs in the home but they didn’t all belong to her.
“In the corner of the kitchen were several bin bags stacked up and these had a strong smell of rotting rubbish.”
APO Pierce said other dogs “appeared very underweight” and that she could “very clearly feel every spine nodule and the hips/ribs.”
One dog, Loki, had a wound on one of his limbs but hadn’t seen a vet.
It was evident that Sandham hadn’t provided the dogs with either an adequate diet or suitable living environment. She also failed to take action to address their poor body condition or seek vet care for Loki’s injury.
Greater Manchester Police took the six dogs, Torvi, Ivor, Floki, Loki, Freya and Astrid into their possession before putting them in the care of the RSPCA.
After being nursed back to health all of the dogs have been rehomed.
In court Sandham pleaded guilty to four counts of failing to meet the needs of her dogs and received the usual slap on the wrist
18-month community order with 20 days of ‘rehabilitation’; £80 fine plus £32 victim surcharge. Banned from owning all animals for five years.
