Plymouth man placed on sex offenders register after conviction for sexual activity with a child

A Plymouth man has been convicted of child sex offences and placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Jake Mark Nicholas King appeared at Plymouth Crown Court on 21 June 2022, where he pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual activity with a child, contrary to section 9(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Sentence

The court sentenced King to a total of 16 months in prison, suspended for two years. His sentence was split into two consecutive terms of 8 months, both suspended.

In addition to the suspended sentence, King was handed a Community Order, requiring him to:
• Complete 30 days of rehabilitation activity
• Undertake 35 days of a sex offender treatment programme
• Remain under supervision of the Probation Service for two years

Long-term conditions

As part of the sentence, King was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for a period of 10 years.
