This is the Moment a Woman Tried to Abduct a Baby in Blackpool — and the Moment She Was Arrested

Thursday, October 9, 2025

Footage has revealed the moment 51-year-old Nicolette Goldrick was arrested after attempting to abduct a baby girl in Blackpool earlier this year. She was jailed at Preston Crown Court earlier this week.

The incident happened on Saturday, May 10, when the seven-month-old baby was sitting in her pram with her parents nearby, enjoying a sunny day in the seaside town.

Goldrick, wearing sunglasses and a medical-style face mask, approached the pram, released the brake, and began to wheel it away.

The baby’s shocked parents, supported by passers-by, intervened immediately. Thankfully, the child was not harmed.

Goldrick then walked away from the scene, and police were contacted. Hours later, she returned to the same area while enquiries to locate her were still underway. When the parents spotted her again, she quickly fled.

Following police investigations, Goldrick was located and arrested on suspicion of kidnap. During her arrest, she spat at officers, leading to an additional charge of assaulting a police officer.

After consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Goldrick, of Marton Drive, Blackpool, was formally charged with attempted abduction and common assault. She pleaded guilty in July and has now been sentenced to 12 months in prison. She was also given a five-year restraining order.

In a powerful Victim Personal Statement, the baby’s mother described the terrifying ordeal:

“When it was happening, I was in shock. I couldn’t believe what was happening under my nose, in front of my eyes, and all I could think about was getting my baby back.

Then she returned hours later for another go. My heart was in my mouth. I wanted to react, but I knew waiting for the police was the right thing to do.

I suffered a lot of abuse on social media as people didn’t know the truth, which only added more to my upset and hurt. This has ruined our lives in an unspeakable way. She’s ruined our daughter’s life too, because now I feel I must place restrictions on her to protect her after what’s happened. Nicolette Goldrick is not only a danger to the public, but a serious danger to children generally.”

Detective Constable Ian Peachy, of Blackpool CID, praised the family’s resilience:

“Nicolette Goldrick saw an innocent baby sat in her pram that day and brazenly tried to take her from her parents, in what must have been a terrifying moment for them.

The parents have shown real strength throughout the proceedings, and you will have heard from the victim’s statement just how much this has affected their lives.

Goldrick then attempted to evade officers and spat at them upon arrest. This behaviour will never be tolerated in our county. While it is not for me to comment on the sentence, I hope this family can now begin to move forward knowing that justice has been served.”
