Lee Andrews – Swansea, Wales
Swansea Man Given Suspended Sentence and Restraining Order for Assaulting Partner
Lee Andrews, of Swansea, appeared before the courts earlier this year where he was convicted of domestic violence-related offences following a physical assault on his partner. Despite the severity of the incident, he received a suspended sentence rather than immediate custody.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the assault took place during an argument which quickly escalated into physical violence. The victim reported being grabbed, pushed, and struck, leaving her both physically hurt and emotionally traumatised.
The court granted a restraining order to protect the victim, prohibiting Lee Andrews from contacting her or approaching her home. This order is now in place to prevent any further harassment or abuse.
While the suspended sentence means that Andrews avoids prison for now, any breach of the order or further offending could see him jailed.
The victim in this case has been left shaken by the ordeal and is receiving ongoing support. Domestic violence continues to be a serious issue across the UK, and this case serves as a reminder that emotional and physical abuse can come from anyone, at any time.
Please consider using Clare’s Law
If you have concerns about someone’s abusive past or feel unsafe in a relationship, you have the legal right to request information through Clare’s Law (the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme). This allows you to find out if a current or former partner has a violent or abusive history.
Stay safe, trust your instincts, and speak up.
