Leicester Man Found Guilty of Sexual Offences Against a Child
Leicester, 4 June 2025 — Dale Burton has been found guilty of committing multiple sexual offences against a child following a trial at Leicester Crown Court.
🔹 Convicted Offences:
Burton was convicted on two counts of sexual activity with a child under Section 25(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. Evidence presented during trial revealed that Burton engaged in sexual activity with the minor on more than one occasion.
🔹 Breach of Trust:
The judge described Burton’s behaviour as a serious abuse of trust, with long-lasting emotional and psychological consequences for the young victim.
“These offences are grave in nature. They exploit a child’s lack of maturity and understanding, and cause damage that can endure for years.”
🔹 Sentencing Details:
- 12 months for the first offence
- 20 months for the second offence
- Total sentence: 20 months, suspended for 2 years
🔹 Court Orders:
- 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (restricting contact with children and internet use)
- 10 years on the Sex Offenders Register
🔹 Police Statement:
