π Barrow Man Pleads Guilty to Affray Amid Allegations of Domestic Abuse
Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria β Regan Stott, from the Barrow and Cark-in-Cartmel area, has pleaded guilty to a charge of affray at Preston Crown Court following a serious incident investigated by police. The case has raised concerns due to wider allegations of sustained domestic abuse reported by a former partner.
Stott appeared before the court on 21st July 2025 and admitted guilt under Section 3(1) of the Public Order Act 1986, relating to a public disturbance. The sentencing has been adjourned and is scheduled to take place on 31st October 2025.
β οΈ Domestic Abuse Allegations
Although the court focused on the affray charge, a former partner has described a harrowing pattern of abuse that includes:
- Repeated physical assaults
- Threats to kill and intimidation
- Allegedly holding a knife to the victimβs throat
- Forcing the victim down a flight of stairs
The abuse is said to have occurred over the course of more than a year. The victim did not testify in person, citing safety and trauma-related concerns β a decision that may have influenced the scope of the charges pursued in court. However, a Victim Personal Statement may still be submitted to assist the court during sentencing.
π£οΈ Support & Ongoing Proceedings
A representative from the Witness Care Unit urged any victims in similar cases to consider submitting further information β if safe β so the courts can understand the full extent of harm caused. The case remains open pending sentencing.
