📝Case Summary:
Michael Keane, 38, began verbally abusing his partner just weeks into their relationship before escalating to frequent physical assaults. He subjected her to six months of domestic abuse, during which he punched her, isolated her, and forced her to cover up bruises before allowing her to leave the flat.
In one incident, he placed a mattress against the door to prevent her escape. On another, after violently punching her in the face, she managed to flee and contacted her sister — ultimately leading to a police report.
While on bail, Keane breached conditions by illegally entering the victim’s flat and sending her threatening messages. The victim later stated she never imagined someone she trusted could abuse her in such a way.
He pleaded guilty to domestic abuse and was sentenced to 2 years and 9 months in prison. A restraining order was issued, and he was banned from returning to the Isle of Man for 5 years following his release.
