Lloyd Sweeting – Speke

A ten-year-old girl was left traumatised after a paedophile contacted her online and pressured her to send sexual images of herself and her cousin, who was also a child.

Lloyd Sweeting, 34, of Speke, was identified as the person behind the account. Police arrested him on 18 April 2024 and seized his devices.

Investigators examined those devices and his contact with the girl before he was charged.

The child sent images because she feared what would happen if she refused. The psychological impact of Sweeting’s actions is expected to be long-lasting.

Sweeting was convicted of four counts of causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of possessing indecent photographs and one count of possessing extreme pornographic images.

He was sentenced to 16 years in prison at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday 22 September.

The victim in this case, who lives in the UK, sent images to Sweeting out of fear of the repercussions if she didn’t.

She has been left traumatised by Sweeting’s appalling actions and the psychological impact of what he subjected her to will be long-lasting.

Sweeting poses a clear danger to children, amongst the most vulnerable in our society, and it is right that he will now spend a significant period of time in prison.
