Woman Admitted She Was a “Risk to Children” After Police Uncovered Abuse Material on Her Devices

A 29-year-old woman has admitted possessing and distributing hundreds of images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children after police were alerted to her activities during a hospital assessment.

Clara Black, also known online as Clara/Keegan Black, appeared before Inverness Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to charges relating to the downloading and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

The court heard that Black possessed 250 indecent images and 75 videos, with some of the material involving children as young as three or four.

Black also admitted to police that she had obtained sexual gratification from downloading and sharing the material. She further admitted that she had been paid to distribute the abusive content through a messaging app.

Hospital disclosure led to police investigation

The offences came to light on 13 January 2025, when Black was taken to Belford Hospital by friends.

Doctors found no physical problem requiring treatment, but she remained in hospital for around 24 hours for observation.

During an assessment by the mental health team, Black disclosed that she had been sending inappropriate images.

Hospital staff contacted Police Scotland, who sent an officer to speak with her.

With Black’s consent, officers examined her mobile devices.

One phone was fully charged and did not contain anything illegal. However, a second device could not initially be examined because its battery was flat.

The device was subsequently taken to Fort William Police Station, where it underwent forensic examination.

Forensic examination uncovered disturbing material

The examination allegedly uncovered hundreds of images and dozens of videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.

Black subsequently admitted downloading and distributing the material and told officers she considered herself a “risk to children.”

She also admitted receiving payment for distributing the abusive material through a messaging platform.

The case was brought before Inverness Sheriff Court, where Black pleaded guilty to the offences, as well as a separate charge relating to failing to attend a previous court hearing.

The case now moves to the sentencing stage, where the sheriff will consider the seriousness of the offences and the circumstances surrounding them.
