Woman charged with aiding and abetting rape and multiple sexual offences

A woman has appeared before Belfast Magistrates’ Court charged with a series of serious offences arising from an alleged rape attack.

Rachel Lennon, 23, originally from the Coleraine area but now living at Finmore Court, Belfast, appeared before the court facing six charges connected to an alleged incident on 1 July 2026.

The charges include aiding and abetting rape, sexual assault, sexual assault by penetration, possessing a knife and a hammer with intent to commit sexual assault, voyeurism, and administering a substance without the alleged victim’s consent with the intention of stupefying or overpowering them to enable sexual activity.

During a brief review hearing, the prosecution told the court that the full case file is expected to be completed by 14 August and requested a four-week adjournment while investigations continue.

Defence solicitor Michael Boyd said he did not oppose the application, acknowledging that the allegations were serious and that the investigation remains at an early stage.

District Judge Alan White granted the prosecution’s request, ordered that Lennon remain in custody, and adjourned the case until 28 August 2026.
