A Cornish paedophile joined a live video call in the belief that a child was about to be abused in front of him.

Jason Taylor also stated his intentions to drive to Kent to meet the ‘girl’ to abuse her himself.

Taylor, 38, of Pengover Road in Liskeard, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentence on Tuesday 30 June having pleaded guilty to multiple offences of possession of indecent images of children, distributing indecent images of children, arranging and facilitation the commission of a child sex offence and causing and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

He was jailed for five years and made subject of a ten year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

The court heard how on 20 April 2026 Devon & Cornwall Police received a referral stating that Taylor had been actively engaging with an undercover online operative.

During the conversation Taylor shared his sexual attraction to children.

The undercover operative told Taylor that they had access to a nine-year-old niece, and believing this to be true Taylor stated shared his sexual intentions for the fictitious child.

Taylor told the operative that he was willing to drive to Kent during the school holidays to carry out the abuse himself.

The defendant proceeded to send child abuse images to the operative and it was agreed that a video call would take place before the actual meeting – with live abuse to take place during the call.

Taylor joined the call at the agreed time covering the majority of his face. It was agreed that the ‘girl’ would call back once her connection was sorted.

Minutes later Devon & Cornwall Police Paedophile Online Investigation Team officers entered the property and arrested Taylor in bed in his underwear.

The room Taylor was arrested in matched the one seen during the video call.
