CROYDON ATTACK: MAN JAILED AFTER SEXUAL OFFENCES AT PRIVATE PROPERTY

A 43-year-old man has been jailed after carrying out a series of serious sexual offences against a woman at a property in Croydon.

Diego Dellarovere, of Holland Road in Kensington, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, March 15, to seven years’ imprisonment. His sentencing follows a conviction at Croydon Crown Court on January 19, where he was found guilty of rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault.

The court heard that in 2021, the victim reported she had been attacked by Dellarovere inside a house in Croydon. The incident followed a night in which Dellarovere had been out in the local area before the offences took place.

After the report was made, police launched an investigation and carried out arrest enquiries at Dellarovere’s home address. However, he was not present at the time officers attended.

He later handed himself in at Hammersmith Police Station, where he was arrested and subsequently charged in connection with the offences.

During the trial, the prosecution presented evidence outlining the nature of the attack and the impact on the victim. The jury found Dellarovere guilty across multiple charges, reflecting the seriousness of the incident.

At sentencing, the court highlighted the gravity of the offences and the lasting effect such crimes have on victims. Dellarovere was handed a custodial sentence, ensuring he will serve time in prison for his actions.

The case underscores the importance of victims coming forward and the role of police investigations in bringing offenders to justice, even when arrests are not immediate.

It also highlights how offenders can be identified and prosecuted following reports made after the incident, with evidence and investigative work forming the foundation of the case.
