IPSWICH CARE WORKER PETER GABRIEL FACES SEX OFFENCE CHARGES
An Ipswich man has appeared in court accused of a series of serious sexual offences said to have taken place in the town in 2021.
Peter Gabriel, 58, of Mitre Way, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court charged with rape, sexual assault, and engaging in sexual activity with a vulnerable woman while working as a care professional.
The allegations relate to an incident said to have occurred on August 21, 2021.
Prosecutors allege that Gabriel, who was employed in a healthcare role at the time, carried out sexual acts on a woman without her consent.
The complainant cannot be named for legal reasons.
Gabriel faces three counts in total including rape of a woman aged 16 or over, sexual assault, and engaging in sexual activity with a vulnerable female, contrary to sections of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
The case was sent to Ipswich Crown Court under section 51 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 for a plea and trial preparation hearing next week.
Gabriel has been released on unconditional bail and is due to appear before an Ipswich Crown Court judge on October 22.
No pleas were entered at the magistrates’ hearing
