Man accused of violent assault in Sunderland area released on bail

A 24-year-old man from the Sunderland area has been accused of carrying out a violent assault that left a woman with serious facial injuries.

Devlin Wootton, who is understood to be living in West Rainton, is alleged to have attacked the woman on Thursday while under the influence of alcohol.

The victim suffered significant injuries, including a fractured nose and cheekbone. It is also reported that the incident caused extensive damage inside her home.

Images shared following the incident appear to show severe bruising and swelling to the victim’s face.

The matter has been reported to police and is currently under investigation. Wootton has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
