A dangerous child rapist from the Bradford district who has shown no remorse for his offending has been given an extended prison sentence.

Ethan Wright, 21, was found guilty of a series of multiple sexual offences against two young complainants following a trial at Bradford Crown Court last October.

Neither of the victims must be identified for legal reasons, but Recorder Abdul Iqbal KC yesterday (Thursday) heard about the long lasting impact of Wright’s crimes.

The court heard that Wright repeatedly raped a boy, but no further action was taken following a police investigation.

He then committed further rape offences against a girl and the earlier investigation was reopened.

Wright was jailed for two years in respect of the rape charges involving the young boy.

But Recorder Iqbal concluded that Wright needed to be sentenced as a dangerous offender to protect the public and he imposed a further nine years jail for the rape offences against the girl with an extended licence period of four years.

Wright will have to serve his two-year sentence before serving at least two thirds of the nine-year jail term and he will only be released if the Parole Board decide it is safe to do so.

He will also be subject to registration as a sex offender for the rest of his life and he must comply with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

“You contested these charges to trial and you have been convicted of them by a jury,” the judge told Wright.

“You have shown no remorse.

“You continued to deny any criminal offending to the probation service when you were interviewed by them.

Recorder Iqbal said the inevitable and substantial sentences of imprisonment could never repair or erase the damage that Wright had caused.
