Jordan Lee Chilcott Jailed for 30 Months Following Campaign of Coercive and Stalking Behaviour

Jordan Lee Chilcott, 23, of the Carmarthenshire area, including Ammanford and Cwmflynfell, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after carrying out a prolonged campaign of controlling, coercive and stalking behaviour against his former partner.

The court granted the victim an indefinite restraining order for her protection. Although Chilcott had spent four months on remand prior to sentencing, that time was not deducted from the custodial term.

The court heard that over a five-year period Chilcott subjected his former partner to emotional abuse and repeatedly used her children as a means of control. His behaviour escalated significantly after she refused to resume their relationship.

Evidence presented showed that within a 90-minute period he called her more than 200 times and sent a series of abusive messages. In those messages, he claimed he could see which lights were on inside her home and stated he was parked behind her property watching through gaps between neighbouring houses. He was also said to have positioned his car nearby to monitor who entered and left the address and when her vehicle moved.

The court heard that Chilcott made extreme threats, including claims that he would pay someone to rape both her and her child. He also made degrading comments about her fertility.

Sentencing, the judge described Chilcott’s conduct as “traumatising, degrading and deliberately aimed at destroying” the victim’s self-esteem. He was characterised as “childish” and “nothing but a bully,” with the court noting the extent to which his actions were planned and sustained.

His barrister accepted that the seriousness of the offences made the case wholly unsuitable for a suspended sentence and did not oppose the imposition of an immediate custodial term.

Chilcott was convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour, stalking with intent to cause serious alarm and distress, two counts of sending communications threatening harm to life or death, and two counts of sharing indecent images without consent. An additional charge of assault by beating was left on file.
