A man who carried out a terrifying attack on a woman during which he repeatedly hit her in the face has today been jailed for more than three years.

Kyle Williams, 33, pushed the victim to the floor and hit her in the face multiple times during an assault on Sunday 29th September 2024 at an address in Middlesbrough.

Williams then caused damage to the property by smashing a TV and throwing objects.

Following the assault, the victim suffered a black eye, bruising to her face and a suspected orbital floor fracture, causing lasting damage to her eye.

The next day, the victim bravely contacted the police to tell them about what had happened and an investigation was launched by Cleveland Police’s Domestic Abuse Unit (DAU).

Officers arrested and subsequently charged Williams with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage which he later pleaded guilty to in court.

Today (17th December), Williams appeared at Teesside Crown Court where the judge jailed him for a total of 40 months.

Investigating officer PC Keane from DAU said: “This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim who was left terrified for her safety. I hope today’s sentencing brings some sort of closure for her.

“We remain committed to tackling domestic abuse and we will continue to support victims throughout our investigations and any court process. I’d urge anyone suffering abuse to please come forward and report it to us. We are here to help you.”
