2024. – Registered Sex Offender Jailed for Targeting Minors Online
A registered sex offender has been sentenced to prison after continuing to contact children online despite existing legal restrictions.
Mark Lee, born 23 January 2003, of Greenbrow Road, was sentenced to five years in prison with an extended licence period following a police and probation investigation. A court also placed him on the Sex Offenders Register for life and imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The case came to light after Lee’s Offender Manager identified concerning online activity involving teenage boys. Prosecutors told the court that Lee engaged in online chats with individuals who had disclosed they were under 16 years of age, and that he knowingly continued to target minors through a prohibited device despite the conditions of his existing order.
The conviction reflects the seriousness with which the justice system treats breaches of court orders and attempts to target children through online platforms.
