Man Jailed After Guilty Plea to Multiple Domestic Abuse Offences

A man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison after pleading guilty to a series of serious domestic abuse offences at Swansea Crown Court.

On the day his trial was due to begin, the defendant entered guilty pleas to assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), intentional strangulation, controlling and coercive behaviour, and criminal damage.

The court heard that the offences formed part of a sustained pattern of emotional and physical abuse, involving violence, intimidation, and controlling behaviour. Prosecutors outlined how the offending caused significant harm and distress, with the conduct extending over a prolonged period.

During sentencing, the judge described the defendant as a self-centred and abusive individual, noting that his behaviour showed a clear lack of concern for the impact on his victims. The court was told the offending was not an isolated incident and that there was evidence of repeated abusive behaviour.

The judge stated that the defendant demonstrated no genuine remorse and failed to take responsibility for the harm caused. He was sentenced to two years and three months’ imprisonment.

A 10-year restraining order was also imposed, prohibiting any contact with the victim, to provide long-term protection.
